The Royal Academy of Arts

The Royal Academy of Arts (RA) has hosted a Summer Exhibition for over 250 years. The exhibition is preceded by an open call for submissions, allowing both professional and amateur artists to enter their work. This inclusivity fills the walls of the RA with a vast and varied collection of artwork—from painting to sculpture to digital art, and refreshingly gives pieces by unknown artists equal stature with the work of British icons, such as Anthony Green (RA). Each year, the real joy of the Summer Exhibition lies in the overwhelming number of visitors it draws, none of whom know what to expect, but attend in hope of finding something that resonates and inspires.
